I've been painting with oil and enjoy that medium the most. I've taken lessons both formerly and informally from local artists and continue to expand my knowledge on my own. It's been interesting and fun so I continue to paint. I paint with oil over acrylic or strictly with oils. It all depends on how I feel that day. Lately I've been painting on Masonite panels that has been sanded and coated with several coats of gesso to seal them. I like their durability and prefer to paint on those.
In 2005 I became a member of Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild. They are a local organization that runs Downtown Art Gallery 630 in Houma, La. The members are local artists and many of them show and sell their work in the gallery. I'm not showing my work this year, but it's worth a visit to see all the beautiful work of my artist friends. It's made up of a nice group of people and I think it would be an enjoyable visit. Maybe I'll see you there sometime next year.
